I happened to be talking to a local business person in Belsize Village yesterday.
She was annoyed with Camden because her attempts at recycling paper from her business, by bagging the small amount of waste produced by her office and disposing it as domestic (she thought she was doing the right thing by recycling) ended up in a council fine after council officers suddenly appeared asking her how she recycled.
Apparently trying to put commercial recycling in domestic recycling is a real no-no.
That said, if you don't generate a large amoun of waste, and think recycling is a good thing (she could've just binned it), the footprint of collecting small amounts of recycling seems to defeat the purpose.
I hear from a little bird at the Town Hall that a certain local councillor was responsible for this bit of 'green grassing', and that the person I talked to wasn't the only victim on that parade...
