Reports are emerging in the local press that the recently appointed Head of Parking at Camden Council seems to have left under a cloud, apparently after an allegation that he had awarded himself a parking permit for his car to park on yellow lines across the borough!
The Town Hall insists, according to a statement the CNJ, that there was a "joint" decision not to renew his contract and that the decision "has absolutely nothing to do with contract or parking tickets."
Earlier this year, the New Journal looked into John Meyer's appointment in this article.
Meyer, a former Conservative councillor and Tory mover-and-shaker, is something of a supremo in the parking world I hear - and his departure will be an embarrassment to the Council leadership, which is keen on getting 'quick wins' to shore up revenues.
The embattled department, currently facing an unprecedented £4 million shortfall in its usual surpluses, will now have to look elsewhere for leadership.
